HEIMWEE NAAR DE OERSOEP

From january 1999 till july that same year I stayed in the artists residence
"Het Vijfde Seizoen" (The Fifth Saison) located on the borders between
"Dennedal" and the "Willem Arntszhoeve" - the former being a Teletubbie
look-a-like village for a.o. autistics and people suffering from the down-syndrom,
the latter an eclectic psychiatric clinic wich houses about 400 patients.

The aim of my stay there was to work and, possibly, be inspired by the place.
I decided to write a book on aesthetics, madness and nature.
"Heimwee naar de Oersoep" (Nostalgia for the Primal Soup) was written in three
months and consists of a series of 12 letters to the chairman (woman) of
the dutch association of beauty specialists.
The fact that the chairwoman didn't reply to any of my letters made the writing easier.
The book concludes with a series of romantic-modernistic pictures
taken in the woods that embrace both clinics.

Next to the book I wrote two plays for radio RVU, I published the "Rumke Gazette"
as an introduction to the book, made, in cooperation with Kuno Terwindt
the exhiobition "Buenas Dias, Time",
together with Maarten Ploeg the exhibition "Conversation Piece by the TV-Matic",
and about 200 first class drawings.
